Weimar Triangle – establishing Polish-French-German relations – Weimar
Fact of the Polish figure „Joining the EU figure in Poland”
Part of the „Back to Europe together” topic
The Waimar Triangle, which was founded on 29 August 1991, is an agreement between France and Germany and Poland, and its initial purpose was to help introduce Poland into the structures of the European Union and NATO. The meeting took place in Waimar, a city recently located in the GDR, from where the agreement takes its name. When both of the above objectives were met in 2004, this agreement took on the character of broad cooperation between the three countries in the economic, cultural and scientific fields. It was also to develop common positions in the EU and NATO. In the second decade of the 21st century, the agreement lost its significance to strengthen its importance again after the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
