Sandomierz Agreement (1570) – Sandomierz
Fact of the Polish figure „Warsaw Confederation – 1573 – Warsaw”
Part of the „Religious tolerance and intolerance” topic
Agreement between the Lutherans, Reformed and the Bohemian Brethren living in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The main aim of the Agreement was to unite different Protestant groups to face the Counter-Reformation. Interestingly, the Polish Brethren did not sign the Agreement. According to its resolutions, the mentioned denominations agreed to allow each party to follow its own practices and live together in peace. Despite the initial commitment of all parties, the Agreement did not last long.
