Colloquium charitativum was an official meeting between Catholics and Protestants (Lutherans and Calvinists), called by the Polish king Władysław IV in order to restore unity and harmony among the Christian denominations and their representatives. The Colloquium was held in the Prussian city of Toruń and was officially opened on 28 August 1645. In the meeting participated almost eighty theologians representing different Christian denominations – 28 Lutherans, 26 Catholics and 24 Calvinists. After 36 sessions supervised by the legate of Władysław, the meeting was officially closed on 21 November 1645. Unfortunately, the theologians failed to reach a single doctrinal or political agreement.
